COL Fish, a native of Arlington South Dakota, enlisted as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army in January 1984. Upon completion of basic training at Ft. Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to 8th Infantry Division in Mannheim, Germany followed by the 101st Infantry Division at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. In May 1992, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Ordnance Corps with three years branch detailed Infantry.

In 1993, he was assigned as a Bradley Platoon Leader then the Mortar Platoon Leader in 2-7 IN BN, 24th ID, Ft. Stewart, Georgia. Upon completion of his branch detail in 1995, COL Fish became the Electronic and Missile Maintenance Shop Officer and in 1996 the Support Operations Maintenance Officer in the 724th MSB, 24th ID, Ft. Stewart, Georgia. In 1997, COL Fish was assigned to CP Casey, Korea to be the Battalion S4 and Headquarters Company Commander of the 702d MSB, 2nd ID. In 1998, he returned to Ft. Stewart and over the next four years fulfilled the positions of 2nd BCT Maintenance Officer, the 26th FSB Support Operations Maintenance Officer and then the Maintenance Company Commander. Upon his completion of command in August 2001, COL Fish was assigned to CASCOM, Ft. Lee, Virginia as a combat developer to work Army Transformation from September 2001 to June 2004. COL Fish completed Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas in June 2005 and was assigned to the 498th CSSB, 501st SBDE, 19th ESC, Korea. During his assignment in Korea, COL Fish was the Battalion Support Operations Officer and Executive Officer from June 2005 to June 2007. He then transitioned to be the Secretary General’s Staff, 19th ESC, Korea. In July 2008, COL Fish deployed to Iraq as the CJ 1/4/8 Plans Officer, Multi National Forces - Iraq. Upon completion of his tour in Iraq, COL Fish was reassigned as the Executive Officer, G4, USARPAC, Ft. Shafter, Hawaii from September 2009 to June 2010. COL Fish Commanded the 194th CSSB at Camp Humphreys Korea from June 2010 to June 2012. Upon Completion of Command he assumed the duties of the 43rd SBDE DCO, FT. Carson Colorado from July 2012 – July 2014. Upon returning from Afghanistan in 2013, COL Fish attended the 2014 Army War College Fellowship at the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies. In 2015, COL Fish assumed the duties of the 19th ESC Support Operations Officer, Camp Henry Korea. COL Fish Commanded the USAG – Wiesbaden Garrison from April 2016 to 10 July 2018.

COL Fish’s military and civilian education includes the Primary and Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Courses, Infantry Officer Basic Course, Bradley and Mortar Platoon Leader Courses, Support Operations Officer Course, Combined Logistics Officer Advance Course, CAS3, Combat Developers Course, Joint Logistics Course, Multi-National Logistics Course, Army Force Management, Command and General Staff College, Joint Staff College, and Senior Service College. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Technical Geography from South Dakota State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Central Michigan University.

COL Fish’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC); Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal (1 BSS); Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (2 BSS); South West Asia Service Medal (1 BSS), Iraqi Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon ( Numeral 8), North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal, NATO Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Expert Infantry Badge.

Colonel Fish has been married for 26 years to the former Mrs. Tracy N. Nelson with whom he has a son, Joshua, and daughter, Jordan.
