Command Sergeant Major Ulysses D. Rayford assumed responsibility as the Command Sergeant Major for IMCOM-Europe June 5, 2017.

A native of Columbus, Georgia, he was born January 13, 1974.

He entered the Army in 1992 as a Multi-Channel Telecommunication Systems Operator and attended Basic and Advance Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Fort Gordon, Georgia.

Upon completion of training he was assigned to the 443rd Air Defense Artillery Battalion, Gissen Germany, where he served as a Patriot Missile Systems Communications operator.

Throughout his 25-year career, he has served in numerous leadership positions, including: Team Chief, Bravo Company, 67th Signal Battalion, 11th Signal Brigade, Fort Gordon; Team Chief, Alpha Company, 443 Air Defense Artillery, Fort Hood, Texas; Section Sergeant, 226th Troop Signal Company, 307th Signal Brigade, 1st Signal Brigade, Camp Carroll, South Korea; Section Sergeant, Alpha Company, 307th Signal Battalion, 1st Signal Brigade, Camp Carroll; Platoon Sergeant, Alpha Company, 67th Signal Battalion, 93rd Signal Brigade, Fort Gordon; Drill Sergeant, Bravo Company, 551st Signal Battalion, 15th Signal Brigade, Fort Gordon; Senior Drill Sergeant, Delta Company, 551st Signal Battalion; First Sergeant, 385th Signal Company, Camp Doha, Kuwait; First Sergeant, Bravo Company, 447th Signal Battalion, 15th Signal Brigade; S-3 Operations NCOIC, 54th Signal Battalion, 160th Signal Brigade, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; First Sergeant, HHC, 7th Signal Command, Fort Gordon.

He is a recipient of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Medallion and the Bronze Order of Mercury Medallion. He was recognized as the 2003 Fort Gordon Drill Sergeant of the Year. He served as President of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club Chapters for ASG Kuwait and Fort Gordon.

He completed his undergraduate studies in the Liberal Arts and received his Bachelor’s degree from Excelsior College.

He is married to Tammy Taylor Rayford; they have two children son, Chauncey 21 and daughter, Alyssa 17.
