With more than 200 years of service, the U.S. Armys Noncommissioned Officer Corps has distinguished itself as the worlds most accomplished group of military professionals. Historical and daily accounts of life as an NCO are exemplified by acts of courage, and a dedication and a willingness to do whatever it takes to complete the mission. With the 2009/2010 flu season approaching, it is important for all Army personnel to take precautions against contracting the H1N1 avian flu. The United States will continue to act aggressively to stop the global spread of the pandemic influenza virus.
There is broad, international recognition that the 2009 H1N1 pandemic presents a global health risk. Millions of people around the world have been affected, thousands have died, and the virus continues to spread across international borders. The United States recognizes that just as this challenge transcends borders, so must the response.
