ACS Promotes Family Readiness by helping Army families to be strong, resilient, ready! Because the Army demands that its soldiers be in a constant state of readiness, soldiers' families must also be ready to handle whatever comes their way 24/7/365. "Family readiness" means spouses and dependents can function independently, efficiently and effectively on their own when the military member is gone from the household for long periods of time. It means anything and everything from managing the checkbook and keeping the family car running to handling medical emergencies and school issues.
Army Families - Proud and Self-reliant In 1942, the Army philosophy was "the Army takes care of its own." Today, the philosophy is "the Army takes care of its own by teaching its own to take care of themselves." Thanks to the lessons learned by families who have gone before, today's Army families are stronger and more self-reliant than ever.
